I shared the story on Zoom of FIVE FOR FREEDOM: The African American Soldiers in John Brown’s Army with members of Kehila Chadasha, a progressive, unaffiliated Jewish  congregation in Montgomery County, Maryland.  The themes of social justice and the struggle for equality represented by the five men who went with John Brown to Harper’s Ferry in October 1859 are very much a part of the Jewish tradition of tikkun olam, to repair the world..
