Five for Freedom Comes to Manassas

February 10 @ 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm

FREE

On Sunday afternoon, at 1:30 p.m., Feb. 10, FIVE FOR FREEDOM: The African American Soldiers in John Brown’s Army comes to the Manassas Museum.  Manassas is the seat of Prince William County, Virginia , which plays an important role in the story of one of the five, Dangerfield Newby, and his enslaved wife, Harriet, and their children.  It is a heart-wrenching prelude to the John Brown raid on Harpers Ferry, which Newby joined expressly to free his family, whose owner planned to sell them south.
