I’m honored to have been asked to talk about Five for Freedom: The Five African American Soldiers in John Brown’s Army to Inclusive Woodmoor, a neighborhood group in Silver Spring, Maryland.  This comes at a time when the Commonwealth of Virginia is preparing to memorialize one of the five with a state highway marker. The event is not open to the general public but reflects the continuing interest in the story of Five for Freedom nearly three years after its publication in June 2018. I’m pleased to say they are “hidden figures” no more.
