For the 2020 virtual Gaithersburg Book Festival, Gene interviewed Casey Cep, author of Furious Hours: Murder, Fraud, and the Last Trial of Harper Lee, and author, columnist and pundit E.J. Dionne, on his latest book Code Red: How Progressives and Moderates Can United to Save Our Country.

Gene talks about his book FIVE FOR FREEDOM, the story of the five African Americans with John Brown at Harpers Ferry in October 1859, and about the research that led to its publication.
Gene gave the keynote address at the 13th annual Montgomery County History Conference on Jan. 26, 2019.
