I was honored to tell the stories of FIVE FOR FREEDOM: The African American Soldiers in John Brown’s Army,  on Sunday, May 17, virtually via Zoom, to an engaged audience from All Souls-NYC.  The talk was originally scheduled to be in person, but Covid-19 and the coronavirus pandemic have drastically changed our lives and how, when and where we communicate with others. In this case, I spoke to what seemed like a room full of friends, who, after my 40-minute presentation, offered incisive comments and questions.  Thanks go to my high school classmate Dan Schlieben and Assistant Minister Tracy Sprawls for  making this happen.  It is very gratifying that the stories of these five heroic men continue to interest and engage audiences nearly two years after publication.
